“We’re obviously very upset in the defeat, [especially] when you play so well in the game, particularly in the first half, and create so many good chances,” said the gaffer.
“We’re a relatively new team and we want to try and play like we did in the first half all the time, but obviously that’s difficult because the other team will have a spell. But I thought we were brilliant in the first half. We couldn’t really continue that in the second half but we still created a lot of good chances.
“To concede like we did in the end, I don’t think it was deserved on the run of play or the chances that we created. I’ve just seen them back and if we go in 4-0 up at half-time, I think that would be a pretty fair reflection of the game. We also created some really good ones in the second half as well, but that final bit was missing today.
“It’s obviously a painful, painful result for us. It’s really quiet in the changing room because the players put so much effort into it and on another day we would be sat here really, really chuffed to bits that we’d won the game comfortably.”
