Robbie Stockdale hopes his side can build on last weekend’s win over Sutton United and start on a good run of form.
He said: “I think everybody had a spring in their step, which is normal after a win.
“We’re three games unbeaten, including two tough away games with another at the weekend, so we’re in good spirits. There were a few bumps and bruises along the way, but the players are in good form, so long may that continue.
“Barrow have got a good, experienced manager at this level. They’re a good team, I’ve seen them live this season, watching them play Scunthorpe United. They’ve changed formations a couple of times, but they play football the right way.
“We’re expecting a difficult game, but we always try to focus on what we can do better. I thought our play at the weekend was good – there were a lot of aspects that were very pleasing.
“I said after the game that it’s not always the easiest to break down ten men, but I thought we did that on numerous occasions, and we could have scored more, so let’s hope we saved a few of those for this weekend!
“I know where we are. I know that we’re going to have dips in form and we’re going to have good moments as well. Let’s hope that this is the start of an even better moment.
“Let’s not think we’re in a really good place after the last week, it was good, and we picked up some good points away from home and the win at home. But I want to start another really good run and that’s got to continue at the weekend.”
The gaffer welcomed back Matty Done (Covid) and Stephen Dooley (tendonitis) to training this week but confirmed Jim McNulty will miss the game after picking up an injury in last weekend’s game.
“Of my very little knowledge of the Covid situation, it can affect players in different ways. Matty looks fine and is telling us all the right things, but that fatigue can sneak up on you quickly.
“Stephen Dooley has done a full week’s training with us so he’s available for selection.
“Unfortunately, Jim McNulty picked up an injury at the weekend. I thought he was excellent in the game, but he’s picked up a foot injury – a fracture in his toe, I believe – so that’s disappointing for him but won’t rule him out for too long.”
