Club Saddened To Learn Of Steve Conroy's Passing

5 May 2021

Everyone at Rochdale Football Club is saddened to learn of the passing of former goalkeeper, Steve Conroy.

An apprentice at Sheffield United, he started his professional career at the Blades and spent an 11 year spell at Bramall Lane, making 128 appearances for the side.

Conroy had a brief spell with Leeds United and Rotherham United before joining Rochdale in June 1983. The 'keeper was ever-present for Dale in 1983/84 and helped the side reach the third round of the FA Cup. He also played the first five games of 1984/85, before an injury saw him sidelined. He left Dale early in 1985 and returned to the Millers.

Our thoughts are with Steve’s family and friends at this sad time.
