Murray Knight Joins Board As Supporters Trust Representative

2 July 2021

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Murray Knight as the Dale Supporters Trust representative on the club’s Board of Directors with immediate effect.

It follows confirmation from the EFL that he has passed the requisite Director tests.

Last week, it was announced that the current board had agreed to welcome a Supporters Trust onto the board, to allow fans to have a representative voice in the board room.

On his appointment, Murray said: “I am extremely honoured and delighted to have been asked to join the Rochdale AFC Board of Directors as the Dale Supporters Trust representative.
“I see this role as an extension to what we at the Trust have always tried to achieve and that is to get the opinion of the supporters heard within the board room. That’s what I’ll be striving to do during the tenure of my appointment.

“I would like to thank the executors of David Clough’s estate for enabling this to happen by investing part of the Cloughie legacy funding towards the cost of the required shares. I extend that thanks to the Chairman Simon Gauge and my Directors for welcoming me onto the Board.”

The Chairman commented: “We’re really pleased about it. It gives us a different perspective. I said from the very start, we need a diverse range of views.

“Having a Supporters Trust representative on board is what I believe every football club should have.

“Football clubs are about the fans and Murray is on the board now to contribute a fans’ perspective on everything.”
