Ahead of Saturday’s League One fixture against Crewe Alexandra, we can confirm that the pitch at the Crown Oil Arena is currently playable, thanks to the efforts of our ground and stadium staff.
Temperatures are set to fall below freezing overnight, getting down to -3, which will be considerably lower pitchside, and will not begin to rise again until 10am onwards. The morning temperatures are set to be the lowest of the week so far.
With that in mind, the ground staff will not start removing the covers until late morning on Saturday to keep the pitch covered for as long as possible against the elements.
Whilst we know supporters will be waiting on an update first thing on the morning of the game, we ask for your patience. We will provide an update once the ground staff have had an opportunity to carry out their necessary duties and the covers have started to be removed.
We’ve been in dialogue with the match referee to keep him updated.
Thanks for your understanding.
Up the Dale!
