The Youth Team reached the Northern Final of the EFL Youth Alliance Cup on Saturday, with a 2-1 win over Shrewsbury Town.
The sides exchanged chances early on before Dale took the lead through Peter Thomas’ towering header, nodding in ?’s right-wing cross.
Dale doubled the lead after the break when Adam Cullen turned home a rebound from the edge of the area.
The hosts grabbed a goal back just two minutes later with a close-range header, but Dale were able to see the game out and reach the final of the competition, where they will play Huddersfield Town, Grimsby Town or Walsall in the Northern Final.
The winners of that will then face the winners of the Southern Area.
