Dale ran out victorious on Saturday, beating Salford City 2-0 away from home.
Goals courtesy of Jordan Scanlon and Peter Thomas were enough for all three points for Chris Brown’s side.
Dale’s first sight of goal came when Thomas crossed from the right-hand side for Adam Cullen, who couldn’t quite get his header on target.
Then, after great football from back to front, Thomas cut the ball back for Scanlon who fired a shot into the bottom corner to put Dale ahead.
An almighty goalmouth scramble saw Scanlon and Kacper Mialkowski both hit the woodwork, before the latter’s second effort was blocked on the line before being cleared to safety.
Scanlon had another chance to double his tally when the ball fell to him in the penalty area, but his left footed effort travelled just wide.
Two minutes after the restart Dale doubled their lead. Goalkeeper Brad Kelly played a superb pass from his own area which put Thomas in on goal who took one touch before prodding a shot under the Salford ‘keeper.
The second-half was limited in terms of clear-cut chances but Dale defended their lead well and thoroughly deserved the three points.
