Rochdale Football Club is delighted to announce the appointment of George Delves as Club Secretary.
George joins Dale from Chester Football Club, where he spent the last two seasons as General Manager, and will be responsible for the administration of the football operation, along with ensuring that the Club continues to be fully compliant with the rules and regulations of the game.
Prior to his time at Chester, the 37-year-old worked for a number of years at Tamworth Football Club in a similar role, before later being appointed as Chief Operating Officer there.
He has also held positions at Academy level with Sheffield United and Derby County working across education, operations and coaching departments.
George started his career in football with a community-based role at Leicester City.
Speaking to www.rochdale.afc.co.uk, George said: “Rochdale AFC has a brilliant reputation within the industry as a well-run and forward thinking club, and naturally I'm delighted to join.
“As well as notable on field progress over the past 10 or so years, including an enviable youth development record, Dale continue to strive to be one of the best family clubs in the EFL, and I'm really looking forward to being part of the journey moving forwards.”
Dale Chief Executive, David Bottomley, added: “We were overwhelmed as a Club with the number of applications received, both internally and externally, for this vacancy that has arisen due to John Smallwood stepping down from the role.
“George is a fantastic addition to the off-field team at Dale and he brings a wealth of experience to the Club.
“We would like to place on record our thanks to John for his dedication to the role during his tenure. I am pleased to say that he will still be involved with the Club and will remain on the Board as an Executive Director.”
