Jeriel Dorsett Joins On Loan From Reading

20 August 2021

Rochdale Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Jeriel Dorsett.

The 19-year-old defender has joined Dale on a season-long loan from Reading.

Dorsett, who came through the Academy ranks at the Royals, signed his first professional deal with the club in 2019.

A regular for Reading’s under-23s, he came off the bench in January 2020 to make his senior bow in their FA Cup third round win over Blackpool, before going on to make his full debut a year later in the same competition, against Luton Town.

Last season, he made 17 appearances for the 23s, as well as being named as a first team substitute on nine occasions. Over the course of pre-season, Dorsett made appearances against Lincoln, Charlton and West Ham as part of the Royals' senior setup.

He has been capped by England at under-17 and under-18 level.

“Jeriel has been on our radar for a few weeks,” said Manager Robbie Stockdale.

“Reading have kept him around because of injuries, and Covid issues has meant he has been isolating.

“He’ll add really good balance to our defensive structure. He’s quick, athletic and strong, and can play a couple of positions, so he will be a really good addition to our squad.”

Jeriel will wear squad number 12 during his time at the club.
