A new date has been set for Dale’s Sky Bet League Two fixture against Colchester United at the Crown Oil Arena.
Originally due to played on Saturday 28th August, the match has been brought forward and will now take place on Friday 27th August (7.45pm KO).
Friday 27th August will mark the 100th anniversary of Dale’s debut in the Football League. On that date in 1921, eleven Dale players took to the field at Spotland against Accrington Stanley and thrilled around 7,000 fans with a 6-3 victory. Reg Owens was the main man that afternoon with a hat-trick. Harry Dennison (2) and Gene Carney (pen) were also on target.
