Jake Beesley says it was always his aim to get back into the Football League after joining Dale from Solihull Moors.
The forward has signed a three-year deal at the Crown Oil Arena and says he can’t wait to get started.
“I’m delighted to be here,” said Beesley.
“The move came about a few weeks ago and since I first heard about it, I really wanted to come here and try to better myself in League One.
“I had that taste of playing in League Two last season [with Salford City], scoring a few goals. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite work out the way I wanted it to, but at Solihull I played a lot of games and the aim was to try and get a move back to the Football League, which thankfully has come off.
“It was important that I played games last year at that stage of my career. It stood me in good stead and hopefully now I can kick on with Rochdale.”
Beesley becomes Brian Barry-Murphy’s sixth signing of the summer, and the 23-year-old is looking forward to working with him.
“We’ve briefly spoke. I’ve heard good things about him. We’ve got a young squad and he puts belief in young players which is a positive I see in him. Hopefully I can improve working under him.
“I like to think I’m quick, mobile, decent in the air and I can get goals as well. Hopefully I can show that in the next few weeks and we can have a good season.”
