Jake Beesley spoke to iFollow Dale after opening his account for the Club in the Papa John’s Trophy tie against Salford City on Tuesday.
“I’m delighted to get off the mark,” said Beesley.
“It’s been a long time coming and I’ve had a few good chances in the games. I’ve just been trying to work as hard as I can and thankfully I’ve scored one today.
“We’ve lost the game ultimately so it could have come under better circumstances, but I am happy to score.
“I’ve just pulled off the shoulder of the centre half and Nults [Jimmy McNulty] has played a lovely diagonal.
“I tried to take my first touch in my stride and then the goal was open for me, so it was just a tap-in after that. It was instinctive.”
The striker joined Dale in September and says he is enjoying his time at the Crown Oil Arena so far.
“The lads have been brilliant. The manager has shown great faith in me so far, to play me in so many games. I’ve settled in well, the lads have been great with me and I really am enjoying it.
“It’s a really good level and standard of football. It’s a test but I’m only going to get better in the games I play.
“The way we like to play, I feel it really suits me. I’ve learnt little things already and I’m sure I’ll continue to learn things whilst I’m here.
“I think you should work as hard as you can every game for the team. It’s a job you’ve got to do for the lads to pick up results and I’ve always done that throughout my career and will continue to do so.”
