A Message From Chairman Andrew Kilpatrick

1 May 2020

To the Dale Family.

As we approach the end of another week in lockdown, it seems almost bizarre that Sunday would have been our final game of the regular season, away at Lincoln City.

Given the crisis that we are all facing, football seems to be of lesser significance in some ways and yet, if you are like me, you will be missing it enormously and looking forward to the return of some form of normality when three points on a Saturday and an afternoon at the Crown Oil Arena, or a visit to another ground, is something that we can all share and enjoy together.

In the meantime, the reality of life is much starker with families suffering terrible loss and bereavement, widespread dislocation in our everyday lives and a sense of uncertainty which is profoundly unsettling.

At Rochdale AFC, we have retained a small core of staff and Senior Management who are working tirelessly to keep the Club functioning despite the almost total absence of any revenue and we owe them our thanks for their Herculean efforts. Whilst I am obviously locked down at some considerable distance from the Club, I am in regular, daily contact with the staff and other Directors, am fully supportive of their efforts and have full confidence in their ability to keep you all regularly updated with any day to day developments.

It goes without saying that I am sure everyone will want to join me in thanking everyone in the NHS, the Frontline Services and the wider Essential Services for their unstinting efforts in keeping us safe without regard for their own safety.

Please all keep safe, follow the Government guidelines and I hope it won’t be too long before we can resume some form of normal life and start to enjoy our Football again.

With best wishes,
Andrew
