Report & Highlights| Doncaster Rovers U23s 0-3 Dale Integration Squad - Central League Cup

7 January 2020

Dale ran out comfortable winners on Tuesday, beating Doncaster Rovers by three goals to nil in the Central League Cup.

Goals from Keaton Mulvey, Fabio Tavares and Peter Thomas ensured Dale were victorious.

Doncaster had a chance to open the scoring when Branden Horton’s cross fizzed across the box, Rieves Boocock unable to reach it on the stretch.

Another chance for the home side fell to Myron Gibson, who cleared the crossbar from inside the six-yard box.

Dale’s first effort on goal came through Lewis Bradley, who struck from long range following some neat play from Tavares.

The deadlock was broken when Kacper Mialkowski’s pass found Mulvey, who took it around the onrushing ‘keeper before blasting home.

Doncaster responded through left-back Horton, who fired wide from distance.

In the second-half, Dale doubled their advantage when Bradley’s pass played Tavares through on goal, who kept his composure before slamming the ball past Rovers stopper Louis Jones.

Doncaster nearly pulled one back when Gibson tried to chip Jay Lynch, but he was equal to it, with Liam Ravenhill firing over the rebound.

Following some neat play once more from Tavares, he picked out Matty Gillam on the edge of the box, who fired just wide on the half-volley.

Dale wrapped the game up when second-half substitute Peter Thomas broke through one-on-one, before rifling a shot into the top corner.

That was how the game ended, with Dale recording back to back wins in the competition.
