Supporters are reminded that we are holding another Prostate Cancer Testing Day on Saturday 11th January, in conjunction with the Barry Kilby Prostate Cancer Appeal (BKPCA).
Taking place before Dale’s Sky Bet League One game against Bolton Wanderers, from 11.30am-2.30pm, in the RAFC Study Centre on Willbutts Lane at the Crown Oil Arena.
Last year, we were the first Club in the Greater Manchester area to hold such an event. Over 250 men were tested on the day, with 10% of those tested having a PSA (prostate specific antigen) score of 2.9 or more, meaning they were advised to consult their doctor.
This year, we’re targeting to test 400 men!
We are encouraging all men to return for their 12-month test, along with those who have not had the test yet, to know your score.
Those being tested will be asked for a donation of £5-£10 on the day to go towards the cost of the test, which is £25.
A large fee was donated to the event by the Dale Supporters’ Trust, who purchased Luke Matheson’s match worn signed shirt from Dale’s Carabao Cup tie against Manchester United!
Bolton manager and former Dale boss Keith Hill will be amongst those to be tested for his 12-month check-up on the day.
The test measures the amount of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in your blood. Below is a table of results, which has been split into three categories; green, amber and red.
