Lee Riley Looks Ahead To MK Dons Trip

28 January 2020

Following Saturday’s game against Gillingham at the Crown Oil Arena, First Team Coach Lee Riley spoke about Tuesday night’s trip to MK Dons…

“The preparation for the game will be mainly recovery for the players and starting to look at MK Dons and how they play, and how we play against them.

“We don’t look at the game in regard to the league table. We’ll just prepare for it as we would do any other game and as we always do.

“We want to try and stick to our constants as a team, work on them and prepare properly for the game.”

Dale had the majority of first team players available against Gillingham after returning from injury, with just Callum Camps and Robert Sánchez missing.

“We’ve got everybody back almost, so it’s been nice this week to pick a team and a substitute’s bench, rather than picks almost be automatic for us with the bench being made up of whatever fit players are available at the time.”

Riley also commented on Tyler Smith, who made his debut for the Club following his loan signing from Premier League Sheffield United.

“I thought he did really well. We know what sort of player he’s going to be. He’s a box player, so he’s going to be more alive to things when we’re around the box and that’s where he scores most of his goals. We thought he made a positive impact on his first game for us.”
