Matty Lund said he was delighted to be back after returning to the Club on an 18-month deal on transfer deadline day.
The midfielder joined from Scunthorpe United, marking a return to the Crown Oil Arena two-and-a-half years after his departure.
Lund said he jumped at the chance to come back when the opportunity arose.
“I’m really looking forward to it,” said the 29-year-old.
“It’s great to be back. Once I found out the Club were interested, I jumped at the chance.
“I played with Brian and he was a coach here when I was here. I always seem to bump into him when I’m at home and he’s someone who’s definitely impacted on me coming back here.
“Hopefully I can do well for him and the team.”
The Northern Ireland international can’t wait to play in front of the Dale faithful once again.
“I’ve got so many good memories. I enjoyed every year. We had some good FA Cup games and the promotion was obviously a highlight.
“I loved my time here; it was probably the best time of my career and hopefully there are more good times to come.
“I’ve spoken to a couple of the lads. There are still a few familiar faces here.
“I spoke to Hendo [Ian Henderson], Calvin [Andrew] and a few others so it’s good to see a few faces that I know.
“I had a very good relationship with the fans and I really enjoyed my time. I can’t wait to get back out on the pitch and play in the shirt again.”
