Brian Barry-Murphy On Visit To Sunderland

11 February 2020

Speaking after Saturday’s game at Doncaster Rovers, Dale boss Brian Barry-Murphy spoke about his side’s upcoming game at Sunderland on Tuesday night…

“It’s a brilliant game for us,” said the Dale boss.

“We can’t wait to go to their stadium and take them on. Our support away from home has been amazing this season.

“They’ve been patient and understanding about what we’re trying to do, which was typified again today.

“It’s a chance for all of us to go there and – have a go is a cliché – but we definitely will try to have a go.”

Dale have almost all of their players back to full fitness after a recent injury crisis and Barry-Murphy is encouraged by the high standard of his players.

“We pick players depending on performance levels and who deserves to play. We have a squad of almost 21/22 players, which isn’t a big League One squad by any stretch of the imagination.

“I feel as if every one of our players is of a very high standard and the respect amongst each other in the dressing room is huge.

“My job is to select those who deserve to play for every given game.”
