Grass is starting to grow at the Crown Oil Arena!
Dale’s brand-new pitch is starting to come to life following months of hard work.
We caught up with Head Groundsman Richard Blackburn to update us on the works completed, and those still to come.
“Since the previous update, the new drainage and irrigation systems have all been fully installed,” he said.
“Unfortunately, we had a prolonged spell of wet weather which put the timescale back. Otherwise, we would have been this position even sooner.
“The pitch was seeded last week and has grown incredibly quickly, to what we see today.
“The next stage now is to stitch in the plastic fibres, which will take place towards the end of this month, before we put some more seed down. The grass will then become a lot denser and be ready for the coming season.
“Whilst we wait for that, the AstroTurf is being installed around the perimeter of the pitch, which should give the surrounding areas a fresh, cleaner look.”
