Blooming Heroes! Wonderwall Shows Support For Key Workers

29 April 2020

The Club and Rochdale In Bloom have teamed up once again; this time to show support for our fantastic key workers.

Proudly displayed on our Wonder Wall is now a banner with the words ‘Blooming Heroes: Thank You To Rochdale’s Key Workers’.

The Wonder Wall has won the highest awards available in the last three years at both the North West In Bloom and Britain In Bloom competitions.

Sadly, this year’s event has been cancelled due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

However, it is hoped that there will be a floral display of some kind on the wall this year, explained Roy Down, Rochdale In Bloom Vice Chairman.

“We obviously won't be able to enlist the usual fantastic response of about 40 volunteers! This year it may have to be planted by members of Rochdale In Bloom, working safely.

“The Wonderwall is a great project linking the Dale and our local community, of which the banner is a good example of this link.

“I would particularly like to thank a couple of the In Bloom team, Phil Massey and Paul Ellison, who do a lot behind the scenes to help Frances and myself with this project.

“They are always ready to lend a hand weeding and watering and, in this case, putting the banner in position.

“The Wonder Wall is now much more than the North West In Bloom competition. It is now a prominent local feature, enjoyed by residents and commuters, as well as football fans.”

We’ve got a ‘Design Your Own Wonder Wall’ competition for all of our young Dale fans!

Draw your own decorated Wonder Wall to be in with a chance of winning a Dale goodie bag, including signed football.

Send in the entries to greg.jones@rochdaleafc.co.uk to be in with a chance of winning. Good luck!
