The Youth Team were beaten 3-2 at Salford City on Saturday, after three quickfire goals from the home side.
Morgan Moreland scored two in a minute shortly before the hour mark, but three goals right at the end for the hosts saw them take all three points.
Salford struck the underside of the bar with a great effort from range early on, before Kwadwo Baah went close after a run into the area, seeing his effort denied by the goalkeeper’s legs.
The hosts fired a couple of efforts off target, but it was Dale who broke the lead in the 56th minute.
Luke Nock’s free-kick took a deflection straight into the path of Moreland, who showed a great touch and turn inside the area, before firing past the goalkeeper.
Dale then won a penalty when Adam Cullen was fouled in the area, with Moreland stepping up and finding the bottom corner for his second.
Baah was again denied after cutting inside from the left, before Morgan Piper made a strong save from a Salford free-kick.
The hosts pulled one back with a stunning strike which found the top corner, before equalising when a ball over the top was latched on to and slotted home.
There was still time for a winner, when a corner was nodded back across goal and headed home from close range.
