Peter Thomas Confirmed As EFL Trophy's Youngest Ever

13 September 2019

We've had it confirmed that, as far as records show, Peter Thomas became the youngest ever player to feature in an EFL Trophy match, when he came on as a second half substitute in Wednesday night's Trophy group stage tie against Manchester City U21s.

That night, the Rochdale Academy Under-16 player also became Dale's youngest ever debutant.

The club record had previously been held by Luke Matheson, who made his debut in last season’s competition at 15 years and 336 days.

Peter was aged 15 years and 22 days when he was introduced on Wednesday evening.
