Dale suffered a 2-1 defeat away to Coventry City, who maintain their unbeaten home record in Sky Bet League One.
Ian Henderson opened the scoring with his tenth of the season, but Jordan Shipley levelled matters shortly before the break.
The hosts won it through Liam Walsh, who beat a number of defenders before nestling an effort just inside the post.
Brian Barry-Murphy made one change to the side that started at Wrexham last weekend, with Aaron Wilbraham coming in for Rhys Norrington-Davies, who is on international duty. Matty Done started at left-back.
An even opening saw Shipley and Liam Walsh fire efforts off target for the hosts, with Jimmy Keohane’s left-foot effort from distance also flying wide for Dale.
Henderson missed his connection with a volley from O’Connell’s nod back into the area, before Camps’ free-kick from 35-yards flew well off target.
The skipper then had a huge chance for Dale, when he intercepted a weak back pass. He was forced wide but managed to find Wilbraham in the middle, who saw a shot blocked.
However, Dale didn’t rue the missed chance for long, as Henderson broke the deadlock less than a minute later.
Camps’ strong drive down the right allowed him to fire over a perfectly weighted low cross, straight into the path of Henderson, who clinically swept home from 12-yards.
Zain Westbooke curled an effort narrowly wide for the hosts, before Henderson was denied by Declan Drysdale’s superb sliding block after he’d been found by Pyke.
Dale created another chance four minutes before the break when Wilbraham nodded down into the path of Camps. However, his shot on the stretch from the edge of the area flew over the crossbar.
The hosts drew level three minutes before the break when a ball over the top was brought down on Shipley’s chest. His initial shot was saved by Robert Sánchez, but the ricochet fell kindly for him and he slotted home from close range.
Dale struck the outside of the posts on the stroke of half-time when Camps’ flick on from Morley’s corner took a deflection off a Coventry defender.
After the break, Westbrooke and Shipley fired off target, before Amadou Bakayoko somehow divert a cross back where it came from, despite being just two yards from goal.
Henderson curled an effort narrowly wide of the far post from the corner of the 18-yard-box, before his nod down from a Done cross went through to the goalkeeper with Wilbraham lurking not far away.
Dale stopper Sánchez made a double save when he beat away Walsh’s dipping effort, before holding well to Shipley’s follow up.
Shipley then saw a low shot well saved by Sánchez, but he could do nothing to stop the hosts taking the lead.
Walsh drove forward from the halfway line before jinking past a number of Dale defenders and firing an effort inside the near post from just inside the area.
Brian Barry-Murphy introduced Fabio Tavares and Calvin Andrew to try and bring Dale back level, with Pyke seeing a cross turned over the crossbar by home goalkeeper Marko Marosi.
Eoghan O’Connell had a shot blocked from a corner, before Camps’ follow up was well held.
Dale pushed until the end with Henderson curling an effort narrowly wide, but they couldn’t find a late equaliser.
