Seventh Successive Win For Ladies

5 November 2019

Rochdale AFC Ladies Open Age team made it seven wins in a row, with a 4-1 victory at Mancunian Unity on Sunday.

The win sees the Ladies advance to the quarter-finals of the Open Age Challenge Cup.

Dale started well, playing patient possession football, before carving out an opening early on.

Erin Kilpatrick’s ball found the superb run of Emily Hindle, whose first-time effort found the top corner to break the deadlock.

Hindle then turned provider, sending a long ball through the Unity defence into the path of Brooke Studwick, who finished a one-on-one confidently to double the lead.

The hosts pulled a goal back to half the deficit and had a golden opportunity to draw level from the penalty spot, but Abigail Nolan pulled off another fine penalty save to keep Dale ahead.

Dale’s third came from the same combination which provided the second, when Hindle’s through ball again found Studwick, who found the bottom corner.

Charlotte Lancaster rounded off a fine individual performance, finishing after a fine run down the wing, to confirm Dale’s comprehensive cup victory.
