The Club have received correspondence from some supporters regarding the back corner of the Crown Oil Arena car park and the recent installation of a fence, where there was previously a gate.
The gate had been used as an access and egress point with the adjoining estate, where some supporters park their cars on matchday.
In the interests of safety and security of the stadium at all times, not just matchdays , the Club had taken the action of locking the gate.
The plan was for it to be locked the majority of the time, with the intention of opening it an hour before kick-off and for a short time after the game on matchdays.
However, outside of matchdays, the lock had been forced off the gate on several occasions and the gate itself damaged. To prevent the ongoing costs of parts and labour, and with security in mind, the Club took the decision to replace the gate with a fence.
The Club are aware of a number of supporters climbing over the fence to gain access to the car park before a game and also after a game to exit. We would strongly urge fans not to do this. The Club will accept no liability for any injuries arising from such actions.
The Club appreciate that this may be an inconvenience to some fans and apologise for that, but stresses that the security of the Stadium and its contents is of utmost importance.
