Ahead of Saturday’s final game of the season at Charlton Athletic, we take a look back at a previous visit to The Valley.
Back in October 2016, a Calvin Andrew goal secured a 1-0 win for Dale in Sky Bet League One action.
Dale, off the back of three consecutive wins, took the lead in the 25th minute when Andrew headed home Joe Bunney’s cross at the back post.
The home side had a golden chance to restore parity three minutes after the break, when Bunney fouled Ricky Holmes inside the area.
Johnnie Jackson stepped up to take the spot-kick, but was denied by Josh Lillis’ low save to his left.
The home side continued to throw men forward, but Dale defended resolutely to hold on to a memorable three points.
