Rochdale v Sunderland AFC | Crown Oil Arena, Sky Bet League One, Saturday 6th April 2019, 3pm Kick-Off
We welcome Sunderland AFC to the Crown Oil Arena on Saturday 6th April for the first time in our 112-year history.
You will be aware that, in playing Sunderland, we are taking on a Club whose average home attendance this season is over 31,000. They are a Club with a normal away following greater than our average home attendance.
After weeks of planning involving our own Stadium Manager, Safety Officer, Ticket Office, the Safety Advisory Group and the Police, we have made a decision that allows us to extend the away capacity at the Crown Oil Arena to just over 4,000 tickets. This is higher than the normal away capacity of 3,517.
200 of these will be special hospitality tickets for the Ratcliffe Bar, as our home Main Lounge hospitality for the fixture was sold out many months ago. The Dale Bar will be open for supporters as usual prior the game.
The good news is that we are now able to operate the Crown Oil Arena at 95% capacity, which will leave available tickets, outside of accommodating our loyal season ticket holders, of:
Main Stand – 900 tickets;
Sandy Lane – 590 tickets;
Smith Metals Family Stand (Pearl Street) – 1,200 tickets.
As part of the plan, 532 Sunderland fans will be located in the Smiths Metals Family Stand.
We have written to a number of our valued Season Ticket holders in this stand to explain the situation in full.
Tickets for the Main Stand and Sandy Lane will go on general sale at 9am on Monday 18th March.
Smith Metals Family Stand tickets will go on general sale a week later at 9am on Monday 25th March.
Due to the nature of this match and issues involving postcode fraud, all tickets must either be purchased from the RAFC Ticket Office in person, with a proof of address, or over the phone to supporters who have a booking history.
There will be NO online sales for this match.
Rochdale AFC see this fixture as a vital opportunity to fill the Crown Oil Arena with both home and visiting supporters, and to ensure Dale have a magnificent vocal backing throughout the 90 minutes.
We appreciate this is a unique situation and apologise for the inconvenience it may cause to our supporters. We hope our supporters can appreciate that this is an opportunity to maximise vital revenue for the Football Club, without raising ticket prices for home or away fans.
We would like to thank supporters for their help, understanding, cooperation and support on this decision.
