Barry-Murphy On Injuries & Suspensions

8 March 2019

First Team Coach Brian Barry-Murphy has offered an injury update ahead of Saturday’s match at home to Shrewsbury Town.

A behind-closed-doors game at Preston North End during the week saw two players make their comebacks from injury, and Barry-Murphy says the squad is looking healthy.

“Tuesday was an important day for us and that’s why I was keen to continue with that game at Preston,” he explained.

“We’ve got Ollie Rathbone who came back and played 60 minutes. Ollie has had an ongoing problem with his groin so it’s been difficult for him and we’ve obviously been keen to get him back.

“He came through that pretty good. It just depends, because he can get a reaction on any given day so I’m nervous about seeing him every day! But he seems good.

“Kgosi Ntlhe got 70 minutes so he’s back from a knee injury. We’re in a pretty good place.

“The only slight issue we have is Zach Clough who is building towards fitness. It’s an ongoing issue for Zach. He had a slight issue with his groins again, so we’re checking in him on a daily basis.

“Other than that, the squad is very healthy.”

Dale will also welcome back Ethan Ebanks-Landell, who missed last weekend’s game at Luton Town through suspension.

However, Ethan Hamilton will miss Saturday’s game having been sent off in that match at Luton.

“Ethan is suspended, he’s been brilliant for us, he’s a great guy and he’s a great character in the dressing room.

“He is going to be a loss but we’ve got more than enough players to step in and lads who are more than ready to play.”
