Aaron Morley says although he has had offers from other clubs this summer, he was keen to extend his stay at the Crown Oil Arena and play under Brian Barry-Murphy.
Speaking after signing a new three-year deal, the 19-year-old told www.rochdaleafc.co.uk: “To extend my stay here for another three years is just a dream come true.
“I’ve been here for four years, and being only 19, it’s great to have come through the Youth Team, progressed into the first team and have earned a second contract.
“Brian Barry-Murphy was a huge factor in me deciding to stay, 100%. I’ve had offers from other clubs, but I wanted to play here. I believe in Brian and I believe that he’s going to give me my chance - I just need to take it.
“This next season is a big one for me. I just need to show him [BBM] that I can do it, and hopefully by next season I can be a regular starter.”
Morley says he has returned for pre-season in good shape and is looking forward to the week-long training camp in Portugal.
“I’m feeling quite good and quite strong, so I can’t wait to get the season started.
“I’ve been to Tenerife twice before and will be going to Portugal this time, which is a good chance for us and I can’t wait.”
