Rochdale AFC Launch VPG eSports Team!

Rochdale AFC are delighted to announce the launch of their new FIFA VPG eSports Team.

Virtual Pro Gaming is an online gaming website that hosts competitive matches on the latest version of FIFA using the 11v11 format of the popular video games’ Pro Club’s mode. The team will initially launch on the Playstation 4 platform with plans for future expansion to XBOX1.

The Club joins a number of EFL teams in running an official eSports team, alongside the likes of Northampton, Oxford, QPR, Southend and Tranmere.

Frances Fielding, Sales and Marketing Director for Rochdale Football Club, said: “We are very pleased to support the Dale E-Sports Virtual Pro Gaming team.

“This is a new market for the Club to explore which will promote Rochdale AFC on global scale, as well as offering a fun, gaming experience for Dale supporters all over the world. The team will operate in a competitive league, so they will be representing Rochdale AFC and we are proud to be supporting this exciting initiative.”

Chief Executive Officer of VPG, Arron Dellosa, commented: “It’s fantastic to see Rochdale AFC getting involved in esports.

“The 11v11 FIFA esports is growing massively with many clubs entering this space. Rhys Wolstenholme, who will be the manager of the esports team, will be entering into the Virtual Pro Gaming esports leagues where many Rochdale fans can get involved and compete in weekly scheduled matches.”

Rochdale eSports Manager, Rhys Wolstenholme, added : “I'm looking forward to developing another community within the Rochdale AFC fanbase and continuing to adhere to the behaviours and values the club is so well known for.”

Members of the team will attend the FIFA event the club is hosting in conjunction with SLBC Events in support of Springhill Hospice to find prospective players. The event will be held on Sunday 18th August and details can be found HERE.
