Rory Holden Joins Rochdale On Loan From Bristol City

3 January 2019

Rochdale Football Club are delighted to announce the loan signing of Rory Holden, subject to the relevant clearance.

The 21-year-old forward joins Dale until the end of the season from Championship side Bristol City.

Holden joined the Robins for an undisclosed fee on transfer deadline day in the summer of 2017, making the move to England from Derry City Football Club. During his time with the League of Ireland Premier Division side, he made 16 senior appearances including featuring in the Europa League.

He has impressed for Bristol City’s under-23 squad since arriving at Ashton Gate and has since been capped by Northern Ireland under-21s, being called-up to be a part of the squad that had an impressive Euro 2019 qualifying campaign recently.

Earlier this season, Holden spent a month on loan at Barrow, making five appearances during his time there.

“I’ve been here for a few weeks training with the boys and there is definitely positive vibes coming from training sessions, so I’m excited to have signed on until the end of the season,” said Holden.

“Playing for Bristol City’s under-23s has benefited me, but I feel now is the right time to get out on loan.

“I’m here to give my all, and I’ll do the best I can for the club and the team.”

Welcome to the Crown Oil Arena, Rory!
