Keith Hill On Magnus Norman's Loan Extension

4 January 2019

Manager Keith Hill on Magnus Norman extending his stay at the club…

“We want that continuity with someone who is known to the squad and who has integrated well, so we’re really pleased to have extended the deal,” said Hill.

“We’ve worked with Magnus on the training pitch and he’s an outstanding goalkeeper. I had a great chat with him after the game on Tuesday and he’s fully inclusive in what we’re doing here, and he wants to stay at the club. He wants to give it a real go and I hope that he gets accepted in the way that he has been accepted by the squad of players, myself, the staff and Josh Lillis.

“There was a route back to Fulham for him but he wants to stay and, for me, that shows character. Like every goalkeeper, you’ll make mistakes, and when you make mistakes you’re in the firing line but I do believe that if anyone is going to be attacked then it should be me.

“I support all the players that we’ve currently got, and I’m really pleased that Magnus has chosen the right decision, rather than the easy decision. We witness what he’s capable of doing on a regular basis so I’m happy that we’ve been able to retain him for the remainder of the season.

“There’s a potential that Brad Wade might go out on loan to get him a little bit of men’s football, which is really important. I still believe he has got outstanding qualities and he’ll be retained, so we’re down to two goalkeepers vying it out, and I think that’s the way it should be.”
