The Dale players are hugely excited by Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup first round tie against Bolton Wanderers, according to Brian Barry-Murphy.
The Dale boss said: “In my time at the Club we’ve had some amazing cup journeys, and they’ve been some of the best days that stick out in your mind.
“Our players are hugely excited by the game on Tuesday, and all of the cup games. We’ll be giving it everything we can against a local rival who are a huge club and one that we respect.
“We’ll be looking to put on an aggressive performance against them and try to do our fans justice.
“Hopefully, it will be a great game and a great night at our stadium. They’ll bring loads and loads of supporters as they have been doing. Their backing is superb.
“There was a great following from our home fans on Saturday and a great atmosphere in the stadium, which was very exciting for the players.
“I hope they [the supporters] were happy going home on Saturday, albeit slightly disappointed at conceding in the last minute.
“From a planning process [ahead of Tuesday’s game] it’s hard to know what kind of team Bolton will have out, depending on what happens to their off-the-field situation.
“But, we’re very keen to try and put on a performance that we feel will excite our fans, and put on a stern test for whatever team Bolton put out.”
