BBM On Jimmy Ryan & Recruitment

2 August 2019

Manager Brian Barry-Murphy on securing the services of Jimmy Ryan…

Speaking in his pre-match interview, BBM commented: “Jimmy is a great, great player.

“His last season was interrupted by injury, but the main reason for me pursuing Jimmy as hard as I did, is because I believe he is fully fit now, and I believe we can give him the basis to stay injury free.

“Jimmy is an extremely dedicated guy who sets an incredible example in the dressing room. I know that from personal experience.

“He’s an incredible standard of player to bring to our Club and show the rest of our squad that we mean business.

“He’s an amazing signing and it shows great backing from the Board, who have helped me secure such a calibre of player.”

And as mentioned at Monday night's Fans' Forum, Barry-Murphy again reiterated that he is keen to add to the squad before the transfer window closes on September 2nd.

“We’ve openly admitted that we’ve got much smaller numbers in terms of players this season, but we believe that we retain a high level of quality in that squad. My main job is to try and make sure that the squad has enough depth in it to cover eventualities that may occur in the next few months before we get to January.

“We’re very conscious of the fact that in certain areas, particularly in central defence, that we may be a player light, and maybe in wide areas. But, there’s no panic on our part - we’re very happy with what we’ve got. We’re constantly trying to evaluate what we need and trying to add maybe one more player to the squad before we get to the end of the window.”
