Rochdale AFC Girls’ Under-16s enjoyed a magnificent run to the quarter-finals of the Premier League Kicks Cup on Monday.
The annual event, held at the University of Warwick, had more than 700 youngsters representing 65 professional football clubs, in both mixed and girls tournaments.
Dale triumphed over Barnet and Leicester City in the group stage, beat Arsenal in the last 16, before they were beaten on penalties by Portsmouth at the quarter-final stage.
Head Of Community Keith Hicks said: “The players were brilliant in representing Rochdale AFC.
“There was fantastic commitment from all the players – Abigail Driffield, Georgia Cocking, Tyla Rollins, Kirsty Bella, Brooke Hill, Grace Wilson, Emma Flynn, and especially goalkeeper Zakiyah Mehrban, who saved penalties in both games against Arsenal and Portsmouth.”
