A goal on his debut.
That’s exactly what Zach Clough achieved on Tuesday night, when he put Rochdale 1-0 up against Bury after just 17 minutes in the Checkatrade Trophy tie at the Crown Oil Arena.
The 23-year-old played the whole match for Dale, notching up his first minutes of the season.
“That’s what we’ve brought him in for,” said Hill.
“He shows great movement, he never looks uncomposed, he’s got great vision, he has an awareness about the opponent as well as his team mates and he knows where the goal is.
“I thought he was outstanding in lasting 90 minutes for us. When he gets up to real speed, instead of 60-minute speed, then he’s going to be a really exciting player.”
