Luke Matheson has been shortlisted for Checkatrade Trade Player of the Round for round one.
The young full-back has made quite an impression in the competition so far this season, after bursting onto the scene in Dale’s tie against Bury at the Crown Oil Arena in September.
Aged just 15, he became the club’s youngest ever debutant that night and also won the Match the Match Award, following an impressive performance against the Shakers.
He has taken first team duties in his stride and played the full 90 minutes against Fleetwood Town and Leicester City under-21s, helping Dale progress through to the knockout stages of the Checkatrade Trophy as winners of Northern Group B.
