The game looked to be heading for a goalless draw, until Oxford goalkeeper Chris Tardif put through his own net.
Ernie Cooksey headed a partially cleared corner back into the area, where Tony Gallimore hooked an effort off the upright.
However, as Tardif dived to save Gallimore’s effort, it cannoned off the post, hitting the back of Tardif, and bouncing over the line.
The win moved Dale up to 16th in League Two. Watch the goal below.
