Our planned summer pitch renovations started earlier this week, and with the sun shining and the weather forecast continuing to be favourable, work should be completed over the next few days.
Having had a complete overhaul in February with the laying of a brand new pitch, the renovations will enhance the work carried out earlier this year, as we look to maintain the good condition of the playing surface.
Our ground staff and contractors are currently working long days and well into the night to get the job done. Once completed, there will be a near six-week window before the first sporting action takes place at the Crown Oil Arena.
Head Groundsman Drew Duffy, assisted by James Schofield and Tom MacKenzie, have been working closely with Premier Pitches (specialist sports turf contractors) and iTurf (a consultancy, design and maintenance company in world-wide turf markets) since February, and this regular dialogue will continue throughout the summer renovations and beyond.
