Lewis Bradley On LFE Goal Of The Month Nomination

9 March 2018

Lewis Bradley says his goal against Bury was his best strike of the season so far.

The effort finished third in the LFE’s January Goal Of The Month competition.

The strike was one of nine up for the public vote, and capped a fast-flowing attack through the centre of the pitch.

“It’s definitely the best I’ve scored this season.

“I don’t know what happened really, I just thought I’d have a shot instead of crossing it, and somehow it went in!

“We’re good at playing through the thirds. It’s what we like to do. We don’t really like kicking it long, so I’m really happy with the goal.”

The first-year scholar has had to spend time on the side lines after suffering a fractured ankle last month, and will miss Saturday’s game against Accrington Stanley.

“It’s been quite frustrating,” said Bradley.

“I wasn’t able to walk for a week and a half, but I’m getting back to it now. I’m in the gym quite a lot trying to get back to full fitness.

“Hopefully the lads can do it again tomorrow. We know what we have to do to win, and we just hope that it works.”

Dale are currently second in the EFL Youth Alliance League, six points behind leaders Wigan Athletic but with three games in hand on the team that they beat at the end of January.

“Hopefully we can win the league. I think we can do – we’ve got the quality to do it. We just need to win the next game, and the game after that, and so on.

“It was a big push [to beat Wigan] and it gave us more belief that we can actually go and win the league.”
