Everyone at Rochdale Football Club would like to congratulate the St Vincent’s Primary School pupils who represented Dale at the regional finals of the EFL Kids Cup on Tuesday afternoon, giving a fantastic account of themselves.
The youngsters went up against teams from all over the North of England at the event at Blackburn Rovers, and made it through to the final of the tournament, taking on South Failsworth Primary School for a place at Wembley.
Unfortunately, South Failsworth Primary School, representing Oldham Athletic, were narrow 1-0 winners after a hard-fought encounter. Nevertheless, the kids did themselves, their school and the football club proud!
The EFL Kids Cup is a six-a-side competition for under-11 schoolchildren and culminates in three finals across the Sky Bet EFL Play-Off weekend.
St Vincent's earned the opportunity to represent Rochdale AFC in EFL Kids Cup after winning the preliminary rounds back in January, seeing off more than 40 other local primary schools in the process.
Thanks to all the schools who took part along the way!
