The Wonder Wall Continues To Impress!

15 June 2018

We’d like to thank the group of volunteers who turned up at the Crown Oil Arena on Thursday evening to take part in our Wonder Wall planting session.

8000 plants stretching 70 meters, have helped to once again to transform the area of land behind the Sandy Lane end into a thriving corridor of colour!

The volunteers including Mark Widdup (Executive Director of Rochdale Borough Council), Councillor Phillip Massey, Paul Ellison & Roy Down from Rochdale In Bloom, Joanne Nuttall from Recycle4GM and Rochdale AFC’s Frances Fielding, were on site for almost four hours to get the job done.

So, if you’re walking past along Sandy Lane, make sure stop to take a look at their fantastic work!

The Wonder Wall enjoyed many successes in its first year, having won two accolades in the 2017 North West In Bloom Awards, including top marks for the ‘It’s Your Neighbourhood Award’. It also scooped an award for the Best New Rochdale In Bloom 2017 Feature.

This year, the Wonder Wall will again compete in the North West In Bloom competition, and in addition, will also be representing the North West in the Britain In Bloom competition!

Finally, thanks once again to our sponsors Crown Oil and Gordon Rigg Garden Centre for donating over £2,500 worth of plants and helping to make this brilliant project happen!
