Jordan Williams Returns To Rochdale On A Permanent Deal

14 June 2018

Rochdale Football Club is delighted to announce the return of Jordan (MJ) Williams to the Crown Oil Arena.

The 22-year-old has penned a two-year deal, effective from July 1st, when his contract expires at Premier League side Liverpool.

Williams joined Dale on loan from the Reds on the final day of the transfer window last summer, but his stay at the club was cut short due to a knee injury, with the last of his 14 appearances coming in October.

“I feel as though I’ve got unfinished business here,” said Williams after putting pen to paper.

“I had interest from elsewhere, but as soon as Keith Hill got on the phone to me, there was no other club that I wanted to go to.

“It’s a brilliant move for me – I know the Gaffer well and I know that he has wanted me since he found out that there could be a chance of me coming back here.

“I've overcome my injury and I’m ready to kick on now.”

The versatile player, who is comfortable operating in midfield and defence, joined Liverpool’s Academy at under-14 level, and progressed through the ranks there, before going on to make his debut for the first team in September 2014. Loan spells at Notts County and Swindon Town followed, before here came to the Crown Oil Arena in August of last year.

He has been capped at under-21 level for Wales and has also received a call-up to the full squad.

Welcome back, Jordan!
