It's A Brilliant Move For Me - Jordan Williams

14 June 2018

Jordan Williams has told www.rochdaleafc.co.uk that there was only ever one club that he wanted to join this summer after leaving Liverpool.

The midfielder penned a two-year deal on Thursday, sealing a return to the Crown Oil Arena, and he’s delighted to be back.

“I’ve had a great time at Liverpool – I loved every minute of it, but I just think now is the right time to move on and get some league games under my belt,” said Williams, who had been at the Reds since under-14 level.

“At this stage of my career I need to be playing games. The Gaffer knows what I’m about, he knows what I can give and I know that I’m going to improve as a player playing under him, so it was a no brainer.”

The 22-year-old spent time on loan at Rochdale last season, but his stay at the club was cut short by injury after he’d made 14 appearances.

“I feel as though I’ve got unfinished business here. I had interest from elsewhere, but as soon as Keith Hill got on the phone to me, there was no other club that I wanted to go to.

“It’s a brilliant move for me – I know the Gaffer well and I know that he has wanted me since he found out that there could be a chance of me coming back here.

“I know the training, I know what he wants from games and how he likes to play – he’s a perfect match for me.”

Having spent seven months on the sidelines, Williams can’t wait for pre-season.

“I've overcome my injury and I’m ready to kick on now. It has been a long, long road and I’ve had some dark moments, but there’s light at the end of the tunnel, and I’m ready to get back playing.

“A few players sent me messages last night, saying they were happy that I’m coming back. I know all the lads here and I can’t wait to get back playing with them again.”
