Andy Cannon Signs New Dale Contract

29 June 2018

We’re delighted to announce that Andy Cannon will be back for the 2018/19 season.

Out of contact this summer, he has put pen to paper on a new one-year deal.

A product of Dale’s Academy, the 22-year-old signed his first professional contract in 2014, and has gone on to make 112 senior appearances for the club since then.

His season was cut short during the 2017/18 campaign due to a fractured cheekbone, but he’s fighting fit and can’t wait to get started in pre-season.

“I’ve fully recovered, so I’m good to go, and I can’t wait for the new season now!” said Cannon.

“The club holds a special place in my heart because it has helped me become the player I am today. I’ve definitely learned a lot from the people here - the staff and the players. I’ve been here a few years now and I’ve enjoyed every season.

“We’ve got a strong group here and everyone’s happy, so I’m looking forward to getting back with the lads and doing it all again this season, as we try to achieve good things.”

Cannon completes a clean sweep for Manager Keith Hill, with all five out of contract players, who were offered new deals at the end of the season, committing their future to the club.
