Ollie Rathbone has told iFollow that the players are in good spirits and can’t wait for the start of the new season.
Speaking on day four in Tenerife, the midfielder also praised the quality of the training so far and the week-long stay at the impressive T3 complex.
“Last season was a long season, with lots of ups and downs, but it brought the whole squad together,” said Ollie.
“When you grow up wanting to be a professional footballer, you never think you’re going to be in that scenario. Standing on the pitch with the people you’ve worked hard with all season, and with your family, waiting to see what the future is going to hold - it was a surreal moment.
“The start of the new season is less than a month away now, and everyone is walking off the training pitch feeling positive. We’re looking forward to the start of it.
“It has been a really tough few days for the players, not just out here in Tenerife, but also the week leading up to it that we did back in Rochdale. The training has been of a really high quality – possession based and with good attacking intent, which has been really good to see.
“If you ask anyone, they’ll tell you that Tenerife is a huge moment in the year – being around the squad all the time and spending social time with everyone. It’s a really positive part of the season.”
