As Dale’s week-long pre-season camp in Tenerife came to an end, Jim McNulty offered his thoughts on what had been achieved…
“It has been a very productive week,” said the experienced defender.
“I’m quite optimistic going forward. You can see little things in a training camp that are going to play out during a season and it looks very promising.
“The camp has been excellent but tough, and the work quality has been high. I don’t look too much into pre-season games and results, because I look into everyday training, habits and routines, and overall, I’m quite excited coming out of here.”
He continued: “It has been very competitive, which is a good trait amongst any winning team. I actually get quite disheartened when it’s not and go home rather moody when I don’t think it’s quite right.
“When things go right in training, they go right on a matchday, so the competitive nature is an excellent part of that. If anyone is to lose their place because of that competitive nature, including me, then so be it, because it’s for the better of all of us.”
