PDP Lead Coach Chris Brown was impressed with his side’s performance in their 4-0 win over Bury in the EFL Youth Alliance Cup.
Goals from Florian Yonsian, Lewis Bradley, Fabio Tavares and Musambya Kisimba secured a 4-0 win, with two goals in each half.
“Some of the first-half stuff was very good,” said Brown.
“The tempo and the football we played, but also the application from the lads. A lot of them were tired and got their second wind after about ten minutes, but after we showed good fitness levels.
“At times we made it DIY, but overall the performance was really and we showed some good quality and thought in what we were trying to do. We showed good energy going forwards and the movement was fantastic.
“We dominated possession and worked the ball really well. We showed a thought and intelligence to try and get through their midfield and on the outside of them.
It was good to get some minutes under our belt, create a good atmosphere and get the lads playing again. They showed good quality and composure, and I think the game should have been two or three goals more.”
Dale ended the game with five under-16 players on the pitch. Morgan Piper, Sam Kilner, Charley Leech, Dan Adshead and Musambya Kisimba all played a part, with Adshead playing the full 90.
“It’s a good chance to expose them to the Youth Team environment. They showed a positive energy in the team and that they can cope in the environment. They’ll get rewarded for that hard work and play a lot more.
“Kisimba scored a good goal, Charley [Leech] and Sam [Kilner] defended well at times, but there’s a lot more to work with them, and Morgan [Piper] worked on his distribution as he didn’t have much to do!
“We always want to accelerate their learning and expose them to the next level.”
