Ahead of Saturday’s Emirates FA Cup fourth round tie against Millwall at the Den, we take a look back at Rochdale’s 2017-18 journey so far in the competition...
Having beaten Bromley, Slough Town and Doncaster Rovers to book their place in the fourth round of the competition for the fourth time in five years, Keith Hill’s side have scored nine goals and conceded none along the way.
This season’s competition started at home to Bromley, with Dale recording a comfortable 4-0 win over the National League side. Bradden Inman and Ian Henderson both bagged a brace at the Crown Oil Arena.
Next up was a trip to Arbour Park to face Slough Town in front of the BT Sport cameras. A repeat of the first round score line followed, as Calvin Andrew shone with a Man of the Match performance. The Dale forward opened the scoring and assisted two, playing his part in Henderson and Matty Done’s goals. Callum Camps had doubled Dale’s advantage from a set-piece, crashing a thunderous free-kick past the Rebels goalkeeper.
Back on the road for the third round, Dale went head-to-head with a familiar foe. Having already faced Doncaster Rovers three times, Rochdale visited the Keepmoat Stadium for the second time in eight days, marking the fourth encounter of the season between the two sides. Andrew’s first half header proved to be the winner, as Rochdale put in a spirited and determined performance to ensure progression through to the fourth round stage of the competition.
