Keith Hill On Further Recruitment

12 January 2018

Manager Keith Hill is hoping to further add to his squad before the January transfer window closes.

Hill has already snapped up Ryan Delaney and Billy Knott, and while he may need to be patient, he is looking to bring one or two more in.

Speaking to iFollow, he commented: “Billy Knott and Ryan Delaney have freshened things up and I think I need a couple more.

“We will try to add to the squad, but it will all depend on player availability.

“When I look at some of the spending that’s going on in League One, it’s unfortunate that we can’t compete. That’s not being disrespectful to the supporters or to their hunger and ambition, that’s me being honest.

“We can’t compete with some of the spending that's going on. It’s frustrating at times because we all know the players that are available and will make you stronger, but there is a layer-cake system.

“We try to get the best, pound for pound, out of the players that we recruit and they’re honest - it’s a privilege to work with those type of players on behalf of the supporters. The honest attributes of the players that we’ve got and their intentions are there to support the club in League One.

“Hopefully we’ll get one or two more in. I think that’s important because we’ve got re-occurring injuries and illness. We’ve been waiting on players getting fit and catching up and then they’ve broken down again, so it’s important that I now turn the wheel away from the direction of waiting for these players and start concentrating on bringing players in.”
